A Powerful Reading and the Next Three to Come

The Deaf Poets Society reading and art opening at The Writer’s Center on February 26 was a powerful, moving, and humbling experience. I cannot thank enough the organizer, Sarah Katz, The Writer’s Center, the audience who packed the house, and especially my fellow readers, who demonstrated enormous courage by showing up and presenting profound and beautiful poems.

Coming up, I have three readings in the next few weeks. On Saturday, March 25, I will be reading with Abdul Ali at the launch of the DC Poet Project. This project is bringing poetry and creative possibilities to the culturally underserved area East of the (Anacostia) River and we could really use your support by attending and, possibly, participating.

The Moving Words Winners’ Reading will take place on Sunday April 9. As one of the honorees, I’ll be reading my winning poem.

Finally, I’ll be reading in the “poets of resistance” Hear at Martha’s on Tuesday April 18, along with DC poetry stars Naomi Thiers, Sarah Browning, Alan King, and others.

Please come to any (or all!) of these if you can.
